The student will also learn about how to survive in the wilderness, find water, shelter, use of surroundings, escape and evasion, etc. combat physiology and how to better mitigate the effects. An introduction to low light shooting techniques will be addressed at the end of the course.
Wilderness Survival Skills
The basic wilderness survival teaches people who are new to the survival community the most important basic skills in a wilderness survival situation. Shelter, Water, Fire, Food, and Tools are the essence of survival. The survival standard is very comprehensive and covers a multitude of different subjects about wilderness survival with or without modern equipment. This class is intensive and is almost entirely hands on with very little lecture time. Most of the 2 days will actually be spent doing physical work and you will practice building and using all the skills/items listed below in corporation with shooting skills and scenarios. So you should be prepared to deal with inclement weather, bugs, animals, poison ivy, and other things that will add to your discomfort. This course is the first step in learning how to be completely self-reliant in the wilderness.
Day 1- Students will learn how to build a shelter and fire starting techniques, Water procurement, tracking and trapping skills and land navigation
Day 2- Hand-2-Hand drills, escape and evasion, students are presented to different shooting scenarios and drills using their personal gun. Obstacle shooting exercises will be part of the course as well.
Gear Requirement: 1- Large Backpack, hiking/tactical boots, rain gear, sleeping bag, warm and cold clothing, shorts, 2- tshirt, 1pair of pants, long sleeve shirt, 2 socks, 2 underwear, jacket, poncho, gloves, tactical clothing if possible, baseball cap, powder, survival/tactical knife, compass w/ azimuth, watch, sunglasses, outdoor clothing, overnight camping gear, leather gloves and canteen. Medication if you require it. safety glasses, hearing protection, handgun, holster, 3 magazines,
Ammunition required: 150 rounds handgun ammo
